SA’s Political leaders gather to hear doctors’ prescription for a better health system

More money is needed for secondary hospitals and rural health to relieve pressure on tertiary hospitals—particularly for staff and training — not just for infrastructure. 

That’s one of the key messages from doctors to South Australia’s political leaders at a forum to be hosted by the Australian Medical Association of South Australia (AMA SA) with Premier Jay Weatherill, Opposition Leader Steven Marshall and SA Best leader, Nick Xenophon.

AMA: Ethics and Professionalism

The Australian Medical Association (AMA) works to promote and advance public health and improve health care. An important part of that is maintaining high clinical and ethical standards in medical practice.

As the peak professional body of doctors in Australia, the AMA promotes and advances ethical behaviour by members of the medical profession, and seeks to protect the integrity and independence of the doctor-patient relationship.

Dr Jane Zhang is the representative for Gynaecologists on AMA(SA) Council. She is a consultant gynaecologist in private practice and a director at a North Adelaide specialist centre.

SA Sri Lankan Doctors Association Welcomed to AMA(SA) HQ

Another medical group has joined the AMA(SA) head office at Newland House in North Adelaide with the Sri Lankan Doctors Association signing a service agreement on 3 June with the AMA(SA) for the AMA(SA) to provide secretarial supoprt and a 'home' to the Association.

AMA(SA) President Dr Patricia Montanaro, CEO Joe Hooper and Associations Officer Tracey DiBartolo welcomed SASDA President Dr Prabhath Wagaarachchi (Pictured) to the AMA(SA) family.
