AMA(SA) Doctors in Training (DiT) Committee will be leading an intern teaching session on informed consent. In many health services interns do not consent for surgical procedures but may be asked to consent for blood transfusions or interventional radiology. Once interns move to resident level, they are expected to consent but there is a grey area around how appropriate that is for highly complex procedures.
